The Charity Grape Harvest is a solidarity initiative born with the aim of supporting social projects to fight against poverty and social exclusion in the Catalan territory.
Under the claim "Fighting against poverty and social exclusion", between the end of August and the first of October, a grape harvesting activity is organized in different wineries which includes grape harvest by hand, knowledge pills on the peculiarities of each winery, wine tasting and a meal. Anyone who wants it can enjoy a day in the vineyard by providing funds for organizations that fight against poverty and social exclusion.
The campaign closes in the following spring with the presentation of the wines of the Charity Grape Harvest and with different tasting and pairing activities with the presence of recognized characters in the world of wine and gastronomy.
The project arose in 2016 from the personal experience of the "winegrower" Rubèn Parera in the Celler Finca Parera (Alt Penedès) after working with immigrants who did not have the most basic resources. The awareness of these difficulties led him to think about carrying out some solidarity action to raise funds and help the social entities of the territory. The project has been possible to carry it out thanks to Impulsa Fundraising, an association specialized in fundraising, in partnership with co-organizers and sponsors wineries, and a whole series of collaborators and professionals who have taken care of it.
The Charity Grape Harvest, beyond the economic support of the entities, aims to raise awareness, promote solidarity and the creation of shared value, promoting a stream of social commitment to create opportunities for people who do not have decent living conditions.
