Agricultural Engineer and Winemaker
"My story as a farmer collects the knowledge of my family". With this small and intense sentence Rubén Parera makes a personal definition of himself. He started working with his father when he was a child and when he was 13 he went to an agricultural school.
When Ruben decided that he wanted to make wine he was just 15 years old and he decided to spend a training period in Pomerol (Bordeaux, France). When he returned back to the family farm his family was planning to sell the whole farm. At this moment his father asked him what he wanted to do, and Rubén answered "to grow vines and make wine." Then they started replacing cherry plantations for new vines and they made the first wine in 1999.
He studied oenology and agricultural engineering and joined his father to create the joint-venture Finca Parera. He has spent more than 15 years doing radical ecology and starting to put into practice biodynamic ideas.
